Christmas Is All Around Me

I like Christmas. Though i'm not a Christian and i may not know in depth the religous gravity of Xmas, i still like it.That's the case for many people i guess.Well, for me, maybe also because i have Christian - centric roots and upbringing. Here's a list of reasons why i like the Christmas period:

1. English football goes into overdrive with the congested xmas and new year calender. The best managers (and fans like me) know the real action doesn't start until after xmas so this is the start of the frantic turnaround period.

2. Television programmes become a permanent bandwagon for xmas. All my favorite sitcoms like Everybody Loves Raymond have xmas episodes. And xmas - themed movies like 'home alone' are sure to pop up.

3. The Christmas lighting downtown. Though i found this year's rather disappointing, i didnt get much of that festive cheer. But i think the simple lightings in my estate Hougang have a certain understated elegance about them.hahah...

4. Radio stations start playing xmas songs. My favorite has to be Billy Mack's 'Christmas is all around', featured in the movie 'Love Actually'. Its just a lame remake of Wet Wet Wet's 'Love is all around', but i find it cool la..haha. I like 'Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas' too.

5. Food !! need i say more?...

And last but not least, most importantly in fact, friends and family. No man, or woman, for that matter, is an island. And there's nothing better than spending time with these special people.

I know i will be, and i'm very thankful for that.
In fact, one of them just came back home from Cambodia today, after doing some work very much in-line with the spirit of Christmas.
